Hello, We're Learning Through Play

One of our preschoolers picked up a toy phone this week. She started a full conversation with a friend on the other end, one only she could hear. Her eyebrows lifted. Her voice changed. For a minute, she was somewhere else entirely, deep in her own story.
A pretend phone call looks simple. But so much is happening underneath. Our children practice new words. They build sentences. They learn to take turns in a conversation, all while having fun. Dramatic play like this gives children a safe place to try new roles, from ordering pizza to checking in on a friend.
At Creative Center, we fill our classrooms with props that spark this kind of play. We know how much it teaches. Every pretend call and every made up story helps our children grow.
