From the Classroom to the Courtroom: How Our Pre-K Graduates Learned to Think Like Lawyers

When most people think of preschool graduation, they picture caps, gowns, and a favorite song. At Creative Center for Children Preschool, we picture something a little different. This year, our Pre-K class is graduating with a mock trial.

Yes, a real mock trial. Based on The Little Mermaid.

Over the course of this school year, our four-year-old students were introduced to the basics of the judicial system. They learned what a trial is, who the players are, what it means to make an argument, and how to listen and respond. They explored concepts of fairness, evidence, and speaking up for what you believe, all through the lens of a story they already loved.

This kind of learning is at the heart of what we do at Creative Center. Our play-based curriculum is not just about keeping kids engaged, though it absolutely does that. It is about building the thinking skills, the language skills, and the confidence that set children up for everything that comes next. When a four-year-old learns to form an argument and deliver it in front of a room full of people, something real is happening.

On June 10 at 9:15 AM, families are invited to come to our campus at 10547 Santa Monica Blvd and watch the trial unfold. The graduates will present their case, receive their diplomas, and close the morning with singing and dancing. It is a celebration of how far they have come and a glimpse of everything they are headed toward.
